Should the thrust washer fit into the prop?

Just bought a used prop for by cobra SX outdrive. Went to install it and it would not slide far enough onto the shaft to get the splined washer onto the splines. Should the smaller part of the thrust washer fit into the center portion of the prop? On the new prop the hub is flush with the back side of the prop with no recess for the thrust washer to fit into. I sent my old prop to be repaired and do not have it as a reference.

Thanks!

Ayuh,...

There are different Thrust Hubs, for different props,....

It sounds like you have the Wrong 1 for that prop....

As Bond-o said, there are different thrust washers, some have a shoulder that fits in the prop, some are flat, and thinner, and sit in front of the prop.
