Should Water be Coming Out Here??

I just got done changing the waterpump in my new to me 1993 115TLETS. I had to use helicoils on the water pump bolts because all four of them sheared off when I tried to get them out. I don't think the waterpump had ever been changed before now because I had to break the paint seal between the LU and midsection when I took the LU off. I also changed the driveshaft seals while I was in there.

I ran the motor on muffs and I am a bit worried about what I see. I have a good strong pee stream. When I first ran it, the bulk of the water was exiting from the openings on either side of the LU (marked A on the photo). I think this is normal. After I ran it for a while (5-10 minutes), I turned it off and did some other work. I restarted it later and noticed that now little water is coming out of those openings. Now it looks like it is leaking past the LU/Midsection seal (marked B on the photo). Still have a good strong pee stream.

I am worried that something has gone awry. I am a bit paranoid about blowing the motor because of doing something stupid when changing the waterpump.

So... where is the water supposed to exit the motor? Is what I am seeing normal or something to be worried about?

Thanks!!!

Water will come out of a bunch of places, including those you marked. Normal.

Thanks for the reply!!

So no worries about plugged thermostats or diverters or leaky water pump seals, etc?

Re: Should Water be Coming Out Here??

The upper part of the LU and lower part of the midsection are normally flooded when the motor is in the water. Some of the holes are for drainage to prevent winter freeze damage. Water coming out of those places when running on the hose is just normal and no relationship to "plugged thermostats or diverters or leaky water pump seals"
