I just got done changing the waterpump in my new to me 1993 115TLETS. I had to use helicoils on the water pump bolts because all four of them sheared off when I tried to get them out. I don't think the waterpump had ever been changed before now because I had to break the paint seal between the LU and midsection when I took the LU off. I also changed the driveshaft seals while I was in there.
I ran the motor on muffs and I am a bit worried about what I see. I have a good strong pee stream. When I first ran it, the bulk of the water was exiting from the openings on either side of the LU (marked A on the photo). I think this is normal. After I ran it for a while (5-10 minutes), I turned it off and did some other work. I restarted it later and noticed that now little water is coming out of those openings. Now it looks like it is leaking past the LU/Midsection seal (marked B on the photo). Still have a good strong pee stream.
I am worried that something has gone awry. I am a bit paranoid about blowing the motor because of doing something stupid when changing the waterpump.
So... where is the water supposed to exit the motor? Is what I am seeing normal or something to be worried about?
Thanks!!!
