Re: side guides

Like the OP said, the hull has a rather deep V, it doesn't look like it could sit much lower, so moving the wheels out would be of little value, especially if it was only 3".

That is my reason for post #17. But thanks.

It's a bit tough to tell from the picture angle, but do you have enough room to cut them off at the weld and drill some holes for a couple wide gauge galvanized bolts? Then you could easily remove for cleaning/storing, but still have the cushion benefit when you're out and about.

I wouldn't take them off...the first time you have a stiff crosswind and you're loading by yourself, you'll wish you had them. In my minuscule opinion, they are a necessity.

Re: side guides

well today was the day....

i had kicked around leaving them on, taking em off and modifing them to be removable. at the end of the day....i just cut em off!

i had though about several options that would make them removable and still structerally sound but i though, oh hell, i will never put em back on and the work is not worth it. i have launched and retrailerd 8 different boats in my time (ranging from 14 to 27 foot) and have never had them nor have i ever felt i needed them. It also seems that with a boat (which has a pointed bow) the boat would have to be half way up the trailer before they would even make contact with the boat if it drifted and by that time the keel would already be centered on a roller and the hull on the bunks.

i am not looking back on this one...

Re: side guides

yup you heard me correct!! they now reside in a spot outside the garage!!

i will be adding a step behind the fender that goes to the light (have added these before) and the guides were just in the way.

they look good outside!

Re: side guides

You are gonna' mount them to the house, so you will not miss the garage door by drifting wide. Right?

Re: side guides

NOT A BAD IDEA!! lol

would work better if they were roller guides, could mount em on the garage door frame and just roll it in like bumper cars!!
