Sliced the splashwell off

Do you see it? Look carefully.......... This boat has had two different motors mounted on it (Maybe more in the last 39 years) and NONE of the holes for the mounts are centered or level......... Just a bunch of holes that will be epoxy filled as far as I am concerned. The drain hole in the transom is not quite centered but it is close.Progress. Laminated 2 pieces of 3/4 with a layer of csm /epoxy in the middle. Getting very close to mounting the transom and deck piece. Used that new epoxy and it is nice. A simple 2:1 mixture.
Now here is a real head scratch-er....... look at this photo of the rear of the transom......

Oh I can make one on a metal lathe and that's the intent.![]()
A few realizations about working on a glasser........... waiting for epoxy to harden is time consuming........ when I replaced the transom wood I realized I had effectively closed off the drain. Ran to home depot and got a hole saw bit for the drill. With rain in the forecast and OMG we have had a record setting wet Summer the drilling of the drain hole moved up the priority list. I would have dropped in the deck but I have more epoxy work ahead for the transom.I stick with the polyester because of the short work times and the much cheaper cost. You can get a lot more done in a day with it. The itching is just "excitement" oozing out of your pours![]()
