I am redoing my carb on a 1959 18hp seahorse. Awesome motor. The new packing (red) is loose on the needle jet. I can't tighten the lock nut enough to get a snug fit. I ended up putting 2 new red packing and 1 old black packing on the high and the slow needles to get that snug fit.

Is this normal Should I call Sierra?
Is it ok to use 3 packing instead of 2.
