Ive been using sierra stern drive 25W-40 engine oil in my engine. I have a 4 cylinder 3.0L inboard\outboard. Is this a good oil to use or should i be using the 10W-30 oil? Ive heard that because of the load these engines see that it is better to use a heavier weight oil. I live in a relatively mild climate.

25w40 is the proper weight oil to use per the Merc Manual.

Re: Sierra Engine Oil

You are more then likely better off sticking with what you have already ran in the past, Changing oil brands and weight's now after using the other stuff for so long is just really not the best choice to do to the engine, Drive, Ect,.
And like fyrfightr said, 25w40 is the proper weight oil to use per the Merc Manual.
Just my "02" worth is all.:)

The Sierra oil is exactly the same as the Merc oil in every sense but one... Price.
