I am getting increasingly frustrated, I bought new sierra coils, points, and condensers. None of it fits properly, I bought the right parts, made the coils fit, after some modifications, now the points do not fit at all. Has anyone else ran into this ? I am a machinist by trade, The fit is not even close. Points are unusable. Would like to hear from someone with similar experiences, or knowledge on this subject. Motor is a 1965 merc 9.8 ser.#1745101

I've found that the Sierra points for Phelon magnetos need a trimming. Take a little bit off the rider portion of the point rocker so that the points close properly.

The frame of the points wont fit without grinding, then the pivot screw hole will still not be right, would go back to original points but found one of them has a cracked arm. Sierra impeller fit good, wish the points did.
