picked up this motor from a guy for free. got it home and pulled the head and its rusted solid in there, and appears to be full of sand, what would be the best way to get this free? id like to try to get it running as the ignition has all been replaced already, but if not got a good parts motor.

Full of sand? Oh boy. I'm afraid to say that your motor most likely has been submerged and is toast. Your best bet is to just get a good used powerhead for it and transfer your newly reconditioned ignition system over to it. However, if you feel froggy, go ahead and pull the intake manifold and the front block half and take a look inside the crank and rod assemblies. I'm betting my bottom dollar though, that your powerhead is severely damaged from rust.
