Oh come on JB, you never watched a SuperBowl before. Besides, if you didn't watch the Daytona 4 to 500 Whatever, how would you know about the Gopher or the rest of it. :p

I suspect you're just a closet NASCAR fan, and won't or can't admit it.;)

I am a racing fan, Don. I am also a football fan.

Though I prefer F1 I watch important NASCAR races, too. After all I was a racecar driver for a while. . . NASCAR, SCCA, Karts and local dirt tracks. Karts were the most fun and SCCA the most challenge. I still consider turning left in heavy traffic with very aggressive drivers the most dangerous.

Never played football other than sandlot stuff and coached Pee Wee, but I enjoy college ball and the NFL.

My point is that it is the race or the game I want to see, not all the peripheral stuff and the circus.

That's what DVRs are for . . . I typically watch the race later on Sunday, FF through all the BS except maybe an interesting pre-race segment on something I care about. No commercials, no parade laps, no rain delays, no red flags, just action laps and pit stops.

I watch almost every race. My least favorite are plate races and for some reason I don't like Dover  My favorite every year is the Coke 600, the night race at Bristol is a close second and I love Darlington. I don't like demolition derby's but I like the closeness of Bristol, the new progressive banking has changed it though. I'm not necessarily sure if it is better . . . The Coke 600 is such an endurance race, it really separates the men from the boys. Pit crews, drivers, the equipment is all challenged and the cream definitely rises.

Gotta agree with Charlotte...ex BIL was a Coke exec and we got the royal treatment for a few years. Humpy Wheeler is such a showman, and gives the military a fine stage for their annual spectacle. Unfortunately watched Gordon win his first ever there in '94...seems like eons ago!!

By the way JB, got the 'ol TR-3 tore down again...getting some new race parts and rack and pinion, lower rear gear. We have an autocross track at our local airport, and this little baby just loves to be wrung out. It's the best kind of racin to me....:D

The other side of the Coke 600 coin is the agony if you are a fan of an underdog. Holy carp, watching a resonably decent car fade to 4 laps down is excruciating . . . I have spent a lot of time begging for yellows that's for sure

Caterpillar is idling local plants and laying off 20,000 workers worldwide and you got free tickets. Enjoy it while you can!
(Seriously, I hope you had a good time QC!)

Yeah, and NASCAR teams have laid off a lot of people too. CAT made these sponsorship decisions before the economy tanked. Dealers buy the ticket packages, so I was actually a guest of the local dealer. I went with two brothers that work there. One of them is probably my closest friend and the other I have known for 30 years . . . Hung out at another friend's motorhome. First time I have been in the infield and it was a blast!

Man, the #31 sucked yesterday :(
