Hello all
What are some signs of a 5.7 merc that is in need of a rebuild

Zero compression with all 8 connecting rods picking out the sides of the block is a sure sign

Ha ha ha ha! Yup, that's a pretty good sign. Usually an engine will be making some pretty "fatal" noises. Other signs are major oil burning (Smoke), low compression in one or more cylinders, or just plain thousands of hours.
