Ayup...that's rot. If the wood has turned to wet powder when you drill, the transom's going to need some rebuilding. Sorry.

It looks wet to me, does any water run out of the drilled holes?

NO, no water ran out of the holes but they were drilled above the blige. When I stand on the whale tail of motor I do not get flex in transom, nothing more than expected from the weight of an 85 horse long shaft and my 240 fat arse! lol If repair is needed what are the chances I could run the summer and repair in the winter. I have been battling boat obstructions from day one! This is my 3rd hull and I am happy with the design a 1970 Glaspar. My floor is weak too though...I cant win for lose in this boating game..:[

ok....so your transom is rotting......it depends on how much.......

if there is no flex in the transom, you might be able to get away with it.....just keep your eye on it....youll know when it gets bad

OK I just got in from Lodi Lake, CA.:)I went back on the river and flew around as fast as I could hit a tree and all:eek:...grrrrrrrrr. Anyway I am happy as I did not get sprayed did not get water in the boat. The transom seems OK for now I went to re tighten the motor mount bolts and they did not need much turn at all telling me that the transom cant be a total wash yet! I believe I have room to put my motor mounting plates on now that I look at the motor a little better, this will help my transom make it through the summer. I do plan on using seacrest in the off season though. Below in my boat and boat and truck pictures, the family and I are gonna have lots of FUN this summer!!!:):):)

As long as you realize that you have a time-consuming project next winter...
Have fun.
