Silverado Exhaust ting ting noise

For some reason when I shut my Silverado pickup off, the exhaust wants to make a repetitive ting ting ting sound for quite some time until I am assuming the whole thing cools down.

This definitely didn't happen with my older 5.3l and I am wondering if it has to do with the variable valve timing / active fuel management.

I noticed another Silverado makes the same noise in the parking garage I use.

As you can see from the video this is quite annoying...any ideas?

Hey Neighbor...:cold: That without a doubt is real live garden gnomes, sitting on the muffler to stay warm and banging on the same with a small pebble...Or maybe....I had some custom duel exhaust put on a car, real heavy duty pipes, sounded EXACTLY the same when it was new. The guy at the exhaust place said it was normal and the sound dissipated over a year or two. Whether yours is the same situation ? IDK. My 2 Cents worth...........:lol:

Nothing to do with VVT, or active fuel management.
Everything to do with hot metal cooling down.
It's normal, don't sweat it.

Yeah, don't stand near the truck when it is doing this. You won't hear it and it won't be annoying.

It happens when there are micro cracks in the stainless steel parts and is normal If you hear it starting to sing a song ......see a doctor and have your meds checked !!!!
