I just bought a 1973 silverline comoro 15T which means its a 15 footer with the intent to restore it but turn it into a fishing boat it has wood rot which spread to the floor stringers and transom my question is as far as fiberglass, resin, pl glue and any other supplies how much do I need to get beforehand so I'm not running out the day before I need it I've never done anything like this but I have a background of autobody which includes fiberglass work on the rare occasion so I know how to handle it but not sure what kinds I need when it comes to a boats so I would like to finish this by Independence Day but if not I'll survive I'm putting the videos on YouTube so my family and friends and whoever can see what I'm up too also any advice so I know what to order from those who have done this would be great thanks

Re: Silverline restoration tips

That actually helps a lot I was able to do some measurements then get the side rails off and start to remove the top cap from the bottom so if I can get it all cleaned up next week I need the supplies fast so I can just keep on going while I have momentum I figure it originally had 3 stringers if I decided to only do half of the center stringer so I could put in a fishing rod compartment what would have to change so the floor is still sturdy?

The Center Stringer "Keel" is a vital part of your boats structure. I would not advise trying to modify it. You should come up with a different plan for you fishing rod compartment.

Don't forget to "PIN" your location on the New iBoaters map in the STICKY section at the top of the Forum. iBoaters Where Are You??

Ok maybe on the outside of the outer stringers on both sides would that be a better option?

Well I decided to not mess with any under deck storage for rods it's a smaller boat and doesn't have that much space in the first place but I have made a lot of progress since my first message on here I've been video taping them as I do things so if anyone sees something I did wrong in the video let me know today I tabbed the transom in with 1708 and wow that was not fun god I hated it but it's done and now gunna move on to the stringers so that maybe I can have the top cap installed by Tuesday at least that's the plan

well i never got the top cap installed before leaving town since we had a big storm come through and put that part on hold but i did get to get the stringers PL glued in place with little 1/2 inch pieces of foam under them so the wood isn't rubbing on the hull. hopefully when i get back in town i can finish the stringers and get the cap back on you can see whats happened on my youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/ccgriepp
