Greetings,

I have a 96 four winns, all the electronics/engine start on the boat are run off 1 battery right now. Of course 4 winns did it neatly so all that connects to my batter is a positive and negative cable, not a butt load of wires. so i want to add another battery in case the other dies, nothing fancy, just a switch in case the other dies i can switch to the other to start the motor. SO i just want to make sure my diagram is right and im not gonna screw anything up. attached is the picture, i know i can add isolators and all that but i just need something simple as a backup.

I don't see a problem with your setup if all you are trying to do is have an emergency backup battery.
