Hi guys...first time poster. Looks like a great site.

Anyway...my problem is simple.

I just installed a new solenoid but I think I mixed up the wiring. Would anyone be able to give me a quick description of how to wire up 4 post solenoid. The motor is a 25hp Evinrude from the early 70's I believe.

The wires I have to be wired are all those from the switch, the one from the coil? to the solenoid, and the battery cables.

I know I should have had all this written down, but $?&T happens... :)

Thanks in advance.
Kj

Hi, KRJ.

Welcome to iboats. :)

Your first and smartest move is to buy a Manual, or borrow one at the library.

Post your model/serial number so we can identify the exact year of your engine, and you can get the correct manual.

Iboats memeber Xcuseme has a general schematic and description posted here:
Starter Schematic

It might help while you wait for that manual. The schematic in it will be specific to your outboard.

The ignition system is entirely seperate from the starting system. Do not connect the systems together or in all likelyhood you will burn out ignition components.

Hope this helps!

Re: Simple Solenoid Wiring

Thanks for the replies....

Dont have a local library very nearby. As for buying a manual, I would like to avoid it because I am selling the boat. BTW...do you mean a manual specific to my model, or a generic manual for outboards.

I will try to manage using the generic schematic you have provided....I will also get the model and serial number to post tommorrow.

Thanks again.
