Simple Volt Meter Install?

Don't have a volt meter on my 1987 110hp Johnson & would like to have one to keep a eye on battery condition - Suggestion on a simple one & installation tips? Boat is a 16' CC Deck boat

Connect the + post to the purple wire coming off the switch and the - post to a good ground. Lights are optional. This way it will only work when the key is on.

Did mine like bhile said.

got a cheep one at O'Riley that matched my original gauge cluster.
