single cylinder four stroke vibration

I am considering using a single cylinder four stoke motor--Honda-Nissan, as a trolling motor. Has anyone had experience with these engines? I hear that the vibration is annoying and that I am better to troll with my Honda 50. I can get it down to 2.5 mph at 1000 RPM, I live in Colorado, but would prefer slower, not to mention the additional fuel consumption. Advice, observations anyone.

Yes, the 1-cyl motors to shake a bit at idle. However, considering that you probably won't be idling with a small kicker (at 3.5 or 4 hp) -- more than likely 1/4 throttle or more, that shouldn't be much of an issue.

In the Tohatsu/Nissan line, the smallest 2-cylinder is the 8/9.8 hp, which is much smoother. But that may be too big for what you want.

Maybe I'm oblivious to vibration; however, I don't notice anything of significance on my 3.5 hp Tohatsu 4 stroke at idle, or otherwise. Slow trolls great at idle on my 15 foot Klamath Advantage aluminum (25 hp Johnson 2stroke as primary power). The Tohatsu is a long shaft and sits on the 20 inch transom.
