Single Side Mounts

General question.

The top trim button on my 95 glastron ssv 175 is shot. I can only lower trim, and have to use the secondary trim button on the bottom.

When replacing a side mount lever, are they generic? Besides adding a trim button or not?

How do you know it is the button? could be wiring, relay etc.
