Reservists from all branches often do their ACTDUTRA at the Academy during INDOC and join in squaring away the plebe candidates. A Marine DI was my CO during my INDOC and really pushed us to our limits. That was 35 yrs ago. More subtle now.
Ah, makes sense. I did a summer at West Point when I was with 10th mountain, training USMA cadets. Today, Im an instructor training enlisted Soldiers at Fort Jackson.
I totally forgot it was that time of year. I was in Keller Army Hosp in WP back in 82 (from a MC accident) and it became busy with cadets injured during the fist field exercise ....... It was a teaching experience to help them study their WP history, monuments and landmarks.
Good for you! No better job in my mind. I really enjoy teaching the nation's best and brightest! BEST career move I have made and plan to stay as long as they'll have me. I teach Marine Engineering Labs (fabrication, welding, CAD, steam, diesel, electrical, reefer, etc...) and love filling their heads and hands with skills.
As a retired Hull Maintenance Technician Chief (HTC) you teach what is still dear to my heart. Any one can sit up in the wheel house, punch in a course, and lock in the auto pilot on these new ships but it still takes real sailors to keep it afloat and running.
