Size does matter when bar-crossing?

With my 14 feet Ally Craft and 40HP, according to some people, I don't seem to have a chance go reef fishing and I should have learned this before buying my first boat

Yet hope is still there when I heard that people do cross bar ok with that size and power. Could any pro. here confirm this mist. I.e. can my boat cross bars?

Ayuh,....

I've floated over Sand,+ Gravel Bars in Canoes,+ in my 22' Boat,.....
Years ago,... I've been Bar Hopping in an Inner Tube,.....

"Crossing a bar" or "bar crossing" are terms we use here in Australia for crossing waves to go offshore fishing.
I did a Google search and found 2 articles. Hope that they give you some idea what I am talking about. There are quite a few hints in the articles but I would like your firsthand experience and expertee.

Just looked at the pictures and can now give the expert advice you are looking for. DONT TRY IT ! I would not do that in a 40ft. boat. FRED

After looking at the pictures and the two articles, the only way I would "cross the bar" is by helicopter.
