Re: size of motor

Howdy, Hogtamer. What kind and age 60 do you have on it now? A new Yamaha 90 weighs about 10lb more than a OMC 60/70 three cyl. That's 50% more thrust for less pounds than an almost empty fuel tank. You're talkng 40-45mph with the right prop.

If I were looking for a 2 stroke to put on a 16' Starcraft that Yamaha 90 would be my choice.

On the other hand, when it came to repowering my 17' Whaler I accepted another 65lb and put a Suziki EFI 70 4 stroke on it. That EFI 4 stroke is a whole new world of smooth, quiet, clean, fuel sipping, starts-every-time-runs-'til-you-shut-it-off convenience. I have not had a second thought about it.

Something to think about. You might even consider the Suzi DF50 EFI, which weighs about the same as your 60, with all of the advantages mentioned above.

Have fun shopping!
JB
