LOL. You guys keep encouraging Jason about that boat. I love the hull, but I ended up with a big Reinell, so I don't want to deal with a complete restoration that big right now, and I really, really want that space next to the garage so I can get my Reinell out of the driveway. <br />No, it's not the flipper boat. It is listed as a cathedral hull, according to the nameplate data inside. Jason's right about the center console. I thought about that myself, and have seen similar conversions in my area with other boats of this size. The picture he posted came out good, but that doesn't even do the hull justice. That baby is really cut deep and wide. Judging by the look of it, I'd say that it was made to be fairly fast, turn on a dime, and definitely stable on the water. Jason, if you do follow up with this one, I hope you do something really special with it. That's much better than seeing it go to the dump so someone can use the trailer for something else!

By the look of it that thunderbird definately cant be from 67, has to be much newer.

The title says 67. Same thing the guy told me. I admit, though, that I did not find a single boat anywhere on the internet that matched. If someone knows that it's wrong on the title, let me know. I'm not home to get the serial number, but I'll post it tomorrow, provided there is one on the nameplate of transom.

I'll tell you what, after having seen more pics, I am feeling a 21 foot center console is in my future. Judging by the drivetrain, 67 sounds right, but that is a really modern hull bottom for the era. No complaints here.

I'm gonna tell you guys something. I think there's something wrong with the title. The cathedral hull was what the thunderbird company called the hull on the "flipper boat." That boats not as old as the title says, and it's not a cathedral hull. Something isn't matching up.

Goatherder, I'm with what you're saying. You may be right. However, you still haven't offered me another option as to what it might be. I even did some searching today for it, and still haven't been able to find a picture of another boat that looked similar. I'll tell you that I can definitely say that the Tbird emblems are on the side, and the nameplate positively says that it's a cathedral hull. The title identified it as a 67, but as many of you have seen, titles have been changed before. I saw other sizes of the Tbird in that vintage, and I talked to the son of the original designer-everyone I've spoken with agrees(and agreed at the time) that the builder-**** Cole-was very innovative in his design. Like I said before, if anyone can provide a picture of that boat and say that it's a different model, I'd love to see it, just from natural curiosity. Other than that, I guess that it all comes down to is what Jason, me, or even you would deem to be worthwhile as a project. With that in mind, I sent him lots of pictures, inside and out, so that he would know exactly what he'd be getting into. LOL. To be honest, he's a lot better equipped to make an educated decision than I was when I first purchased it for twice as much money...back when I was in my "pre-iboats" days.

I agree that Thunderbird was an innovative company. They made some of the best boats of that day. I didn't see the pictures with the t-bird emblems. State licensing agencies tend to just type stuff in, or possibly what looks like a v-hull to me at the front could have some of the cathedral characteristics further back. It looks like a great boat for a JasonJ project. You may want to find more info before you proceed, but that does look like a great hull.

No good pictures of the hull and keel on that boat, but that was a 24' boat, if I'm not mistaken. Neat looking boat, just the same.

The boat does match the characteristics of a cathedral hull, and current cathedral hulls mimic this hull fairly closely. The crisp line that leads to the tip of the bow is the "outer sponsons" of the cathedral hull, and become quite pronounced as those lines lead to the stern of the boat. Other pics I have show the hull shape better than the one I posted. To be honest, I prefer it like it is, I didn't really want to do another tri-hull anyway. I would not have gone for this had it been more tri-hull-ish. Anyway, I'll post pics Saturday when it is in my driveway.
