Finished pilots seat with pivoting backrest. Local recycle yard supplied the aluminum tubing, and used pressure treated 2x6 for backrest. It and the seat lid, which is hinged, will be upholstered. Also power sanded entire floor with 60 grit, cleaned with acetone, and applied one coat of rubberized no-skid material to entire floor. Applied second coat this morning, and installed bow area cushions. It doesn't seem like I got much done, but I only worked from noon yesterday until 7:30 in the eveing. Only worked on it for an hour this morning to apply the second coat. It takes at least 8 hours for it to cure completely, so thats that.

My other complication is that I am moving, I start on the 16th or so. The bad part is I hate moving, but the good part is that I am moving to a place with a garage and a lake access inlet with a dock. I think it may be worth the effort. :D

In case anyone is wondering, the console is 35 inches wide, as well as the seat. I didn't want a skimpy little console, I wanted two people to be protected with the windshield. Also, I inset the outboard control so I wouldn't have to look at cables and all that, so it is a standard side mount control, not a top mount.

jasonj That is going to look great and will be comfortable to. I have followed all of your project and will have mine restored in about a month. Yes i think the move will be worth the hassle.

Jason,

Looks fantastic!

I've been following closely. With as much work as you get accomplished in such a short time, are you sure you don't have a crew working on this thing?? ;)

Jason

BEAUTIMOUS job there guy

love how you insetted the controls to look like a top mount, neat trick

one question tho

why the down grade in motor???

:p

congratulations on scoring the lake access inlet, lucky dog ya, just go to the pier out back and gone, must be nice, lol

keep up the good work!

PS the hardware store should have a set of nice shiny caps to put on the ends of those aluminum tubes you made the back rest out of ... by the way, fantastic job on that little touch, function AND style, solid class all the way :)

as the brief owner of a 200 horse Black Max, I can tell you that the parts are hard to get, the dealers are haughty azzholes, and they are huge bucks compared to ol JohnnyRude ...

I can sell ya a clymer merc manual cheap, lol

that being said, boy did I have visions of that big beautiful basstard rocketing my 23 Formula along ...
::sigh::

but then I wised up, and went with the assortment of mostly broken down old crap listed below, keeps me humble!

(thousands and THOUSANDS of dollars got diverted into the SeaCraft, the outboards were relegated to the "penny cash" fund, which was where I SHOULD have been sending the loot, lol)

of course, the SeaCraft is powered by ....

MerCruiser ..

and we know who makes THAT one, and where all the money went!!!

:p

Looks Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i like the way you recycled the side mount.
about the move, any - time you cut from trip to the water- is more time spent fishing.
-
where my boat is parked its "only" 35 miles to nearest ramp, but almost 2hrs drive time - due to traffic lites and what not. the sad thing is i live only 4 miles to a ramp. sux
Keep Up The Good Work!!
