skeg bent about 10 to 15 degrees off center

The skeg on my 1980 85 hp Johnson is bent about 10 to 15 degrees off center. Some say it must be fixed and some say don't give it a second thought. What is the real answer?

If you have any steering problems, get it fixed. If not, leave it alone.

It's there to protect the prop, has nothing to do with steering.
