Ski Compartment Lining. Spray-On Bedliner Recommendation?

Have a ski locker in boat, used to be carpeted, but with fuel leak last season, couldn't get smell out, so I ripped the carpet out and cleaned the compartment down to fiberglass. Seawater does slosh up into this area on occasion. Was thinking about using a spray-on bedliner product to finish. Good/bad idea? Have recommendations? Thanks.

What about just bilge paint? Bilgekote from interlux works well.

You could roll gel coat over the fiberglass for a good, hard surface. Durabak would probably work, too, and it has a slight rubbery texture that would keep things from sliding around, and it might keep things from clanking around, too.

Thanks. Bilge paint is a good idea, won't need much so it should be an economical job. Durabak had quite a few negative reviews when I googled it. That was my first thought too tho, some rough textured surface coating like a spray-on truck bedliner. Objects won't clatter and bang against hard surfaces.

I'd toss a ski storage specific mat in there.

Are you worried about scratching your skies or anything else you slid in and out of there? Bed liner or bottom paint won?t give much protection to stuff you put in there.

I should have said that I don't use the locker for skis... it gets wet, the bilge sloshes up into it at times. Why it was carpeted I have no idea. But since I ripped out the carpet, I thought it might come in useful for some sort of storage if I finished it suitably.

Hydroturf. Since it's going in the locker, you can find seconds, extras, or blemished sheets cheap or off ebay.

Get a cheap bathtub mat and cut it to size. Put that on the bottom and you are protected and dry. Maybe you need two.

Maybe you should investigate finding and fixing the leak that causes enough water in the boat to slosh up into the locker?

If you have a working bilge pump, positioned correctly; there shouldn't be enough water to slosh up into the ski locker.

Any kind of rubber mat sounds reasonable.

But scratching your skis seems the least of the problem. They like to stay dry in storage as well.

No leak, it's the way it works. Bilge pump fine. Mats or hydroturf might work. Thanks.

you have a lot of water in the bilge if it is getting to the ski locker on a regular basis.

that being stated, most of my boats with a ski locker had a ski locker mat. it was a rubber grate like mat.

There was a fuel leak which sloshed into ski locker drain soaking carpet and couldn't remove fuel smell, so removed carpet. Just looking to refinish the area so it's usable as storage. I don't carry skis. Thanks.
