I have a 1987 Century 2000 I/O and the ski hook is mounted with only 3 screws. That just does't seem like that would hold a skier/tuber. Should I put a little reinforcement plate w/screws and nuts or is that a good system the way it is? Anyone ever have one pull out before while towing someone?

Re: Ski Hook

If you can access the back side a backing plate would give you peace of mind and a much better mounted hook.

Bart has an excellent point there. Is there nothing on the other side now ???
Are they actually bolts going right through the hull ??? or is it as you said, just screws ??

Re: Ski Hook

mine went thru the glass and had 2 nuts on the inside with no support, so I added a piece of metal backing to it, no big deal. I have to check it from time to time and tighten it, i have noticed.

Re: Ski Hook

The hook is on the top cap anchored with screws. Thanks for the advice guys I am going to put a plate on the bottom of it w/nuts.
