2001 Stracraft 17' Starfire LE
The grandkids are old enough that they will want to go tubing this summer. One of the things I promised myself to do before the season is to come up with a simpler way of attaching a tow rope. Current I'm using a bridal, which works fine, but is not convenient.
I was think of an aluminum/stainless loop that bolts to the outside of the transom and goes over the top of the motor. Possibly even a couple of "sockets" to drop the loop into so that it can be removed (and of course then where do you stow it ?).
Another possibility is an aluminum/stainless loop with a 90? mount so that encircles the back of the motor.
Third, would be a post that sets in the seat socket on the rear casting platform in front of the splashwell. Obviously this would need some supports, probably to the transom (I don't think the sides of the splashwell are strong enough)
Okay, I'm open to suggestions, but I would really like to see some picture ! I also need some suggestions of tube diameter and wall thickness. (Better assume a 300+ lb load for tandems or really big people !)
