Ski Locker Hatch Trim

Hi all, just picked up a new project. A 98 Maxum 2300 SR. The item giving me the most difficulty is the ski locker hatch. It is missing.

I can easily build one out of wood or a composite (HDPE comes to mind) but the problem I run into is I don't have an aluminum trim ring, which is what essentially keeps the hatch in place. In the picture attached, the aluminum trim overlaps the floor and is what prevents the hatch from falling into the ski locker. Any ideas on how I can make one, find one, or an alternative solution? I'm looking at z-bar or t-bar aluminum/steel that I could attach to the wood/composite and bend around into shape. I could also put something from underneath the opening that the hatch would rest on.

The ski locker opening measures 41" L x 15.5" W.
Cheers

Ebay or a boat yard if you live near one. When I had older boats I had a place I went often. Was on first name basis with the guy/owner. Great to have a place like that. I could call him up and he would have almost anything I could need. Ebay is nice since you can do it from home while staring at the boat :D

Thanks for all the suggestions, folks. I have been searching eBay religiously and so far nothing close to the size I need, and no boat yards near me.

I think I will just have to make one myself. I can use wood, epoxy and T or Z bar aluminum extrusion.

you can get a complete hatch and trim ring from places like Great Lakes Skipper for what it would cost you to buy the extrusion alone.

Still can’t find one on eBay or greatlakesskipper. I’ve called the boat wreckers that are in the “area” and none can confirm over the phone if they have the size. Not really interested in a 3 hour drive each way to look.

So, for the time being I will make my own so at least I can get through this summer. I will use some plywood I already have, seal it, paint it and then I found some 1/8” thick T extrusions at the hardware store that I will use. I would like to make the surface non-slip. Any suggestions on the best way to accomplish this? I could add sand, silica or maybe use some sort of matting.
