What year? Model #33853

Fuel/Oil Mix 50:1?

I noticed a small (looks like) Vacuum hose connected on the bottom of the powerhead below the carb, it is not connected to anything. Where does the other end go?

What is the red w/ white stripe wire?

Green = Bat
Black = Mag
Black w/white Stripe = Mag
White = Start Solenoid
Red w/ white Stripe = ?

Your engine is a 1968 33hp Evinrude, and yes, the mixture is 50/1.

There is a rubber hose (oil lubricating line) that connects the bottom main bearing to the upper main bearing. At the moment, I cannot think of any other hose in that area.

Re: Ski Twin 33HP Questions

Thanks

The wiring question is at the ignition switch

There is a red w/ white stripe wire and I am not sure what terminal to connect it to.

Re: Ski Twin 33HP Questions

Letters are marked terminals of ignition switch.

Green = Bat = "B"
Black = Mag = "M"
Black w/white Stripe = Mag "M" (Usually a raised boss type terminal)
White = Start Solenoid = "S"

Red w/ white Stripe = ? = This would have to be the only terminal left that is not optional which would be the "C" terminal (choke). However, check the continuity of that wire to make sure that it actually does connect to the choke solenoid before throwing voltage to it.

There should be one (optional) terminal left on the ignition switch which is "A". This stands for "accessory". Anything you want 12v applied to (within reason) when the key is in the ON or START position, connect it here.

Does a 33 have a runaway vacuum safety switch?

Re: Ski Twin 33HP Questions

Vacuum cut-out switch has a nipple on the bottom for a hose leading to the intake manifold. Red/white should be for the electric choke

Re: Ski Twin 33HP Questions

Thanks for the help on the red/white.

There is a small nipple about 4 inches below the carb. The vacuum hose is about 2 to 3mm in diameter. Does it connect the intake to the carb?
There is a larger vacuum line that connects from the sensor(stbd side) to the carb. That one seems to be intact and recently replaced.

With the small one disconnected, what will happen?
