Re: Skinny water conversion.

Hello all! Long time no talk. I just wanted to update you on the Skinny Gator. I added a CMC-PT35 Trim and Tilt and wow, what a difference. I found a used one on ebay for about half price. Before the install, the motor was too low and we could only get about 23 mph (GPS). Now that it is dialed in, we are running at 30.5 (GPS) with my son and my fat buttocks. If you want more detail follow me: http://www.shareaproject.com/pages/projectTut,p,79,00.html . You can get the whole project details here. Thanks again everyone. We love the Skinny Gator. Now I am look for someone who can take a piece of vinyl that will cover our backrest and embroider the boat name on it (3-4" high letters). Any ideas? Thanks!

Re: Skinny water conversion.

Hey all. My son who helped build the boat was backing the trailer and hit a post. The tongue bent about 10 degrees where it joins the box section of the trailer. We took the trailer home, braced the bent section against the basketball goal and tied the back to a tree. I took a come along and from the tongue bent it slowly back until it was straight. I can see no cracks although the galvanization came off at the bends. We scraped the flacked galvanization off with a wire brush and painted with rustoleum. Do you think that is adequate? The square tube metal has slight indentations along the up/down part of the box but the top and bottom are smooth. Let me know your opinion!

I hope this image is not too big. I finally got the seat back rest completed. It turned out really nice. I had a hard time finding someone to do the embroidery but the lady at the t-shirt kiosk at the mall did it for me. Anyways, we think we are about finished with the Skinny Gator.

On another note, we were at the Mosquito Lagoon last weekend to go fishing and to try out the CMC trim and tilt. What a difference! We could comfortably run in 1 foot of water. We could access areas where we had to use the trolling motor or paddle before. She runs 31-32 WOT with two people and a cooler, and cruises at 28 mph all day on six gallons of gas. Not bad for a 25hp! This boat has really turned out far better than we could have imagined when we started. Again, thanks to all of you here.
