Re: Sleekcraft Makeover

I have to admit. I am not 100% in love with the outcome. I imagined it looking like a new car out of the paint booth with a real high gloss to it but it doesn't have that. It looks flat. Almost like it needs a clear coat shot over the top of it. They used a Durakote brand paint that had a gelcoat additive mixed into it. They do have to color sand and polish a little more after a week or so once paint is good and cured but I had to bring it home. Couldn't wait any longer. I will take it back in week or 2 for couple days. It was first time this place had used this product so gave me a pretty good deal. 500 for materials and 6000 for labor and being the estimate was around 8000 I am very pleased. Considering what I paid for boat I'm still cheaper than new boat and have something different that really nobody has around here which is what i wanted. Thanks for the comments

Looks great in the pics. You may be surprised by the final wet sand and polish. I gotta say I'm jealous. I've tried to keep mine a budget build but the more I look at the old gel the more I want to paint mine. Did you redo the wood grain or did you just mask off that area and leave it original?

They just masked off wood grain and kept it original. They told me it could be wet sanded and they have a kind of clear they could shoot over it but i need to get more details. So had an exciting Sunday after figuring out I think I need to replace the lower shift cable i was parked in front of house between trips down the road to back in river to let run when the my farmer neighbor's son was driving tractor with big round hay bale on the front and didn't have it picked up so he could see(I mean why would you do that for god's sake!) proceeded the run into *** end of boat of and shoved it about 5 feet ahead and the bow was up on my tailgate. Even pushed pickup ahead enough to slide tires. Awesome day!

Are they going to pay for the damage? That just flat sucks so soon after the repaint.
