Anyone ever use those slick strips that BassPro sells on a trailer? I have a nitro bass boat and was thinking about adding them to my trailer...but I dont know how well they will work or what they may do to the hull of my boat. they arent as wide or long as the bunks.. will the reduced surface area hurt the hull of my boat by causing more stress in a smaller area?

I see them and have to wonder how it affects the boats abilty to stay on the trailer in turns and other panic moves  even with good straps holding it down

On my 20'cc boat I have the slacks installed over the carpet, they measure 3x16" and I have 20 of them on my 4 bunks. I am very happy with the way the boat can now be easily pushed off the trailer.
You need enough on the slicks to provide adaquate support for the boat, take that into consideration when installing them.

On my 26'WA boat I have the teflon bunk covers (no carpet at all). Once again they are very slippery, do not unhook boat until ready to launch or boat might slide off trailer before it's fully in the water.
No damage to hull since new in 2003.

i almost put some on mine but i didn't like how tall they were. my boat is already pretty high on the trailer and i didn't want to add any more. i'm sure 1/4" doesn't add that much height but i was also worried about the hull.

i have a can of silicone that i've used before. i just go o'natural now.

Just ordered some today.A guy on ebay will make them any size you need.
I had them on my last trailer and loved them.Better than rollers in my opinion.
Dont use the ones from BassPro or ones like them. They are hollow. The ones on Ebay are made out of solid Starboard type material..

Re: "slick strips" on bunk trailer

I built my trailer using Trex decking and I'm wondering if it would even be worth doing anything other than just having the trex there..sans carpet. I know the boat slides really well by hand right now. I'm not worried about the boat sliding off the trailer anymore than I would a roller trailer.

I have never worried about it when driving.
I use heavy tie downs on the rear, have a big safety chain on the front and a new winch.Hopefully i won't have a problem.

I have seen a ton of boats going down the freeway with no rear tie downs..
