I am going to slip for june, july and august i think it will be much easier when we want to go out plus yesturday i got ran into by another boat while i was tied up getting my truck and he was loading (dont ask!!! ) i was wondering what i can put on the bottem to keep the slime to a minimum plus what else should i do since it will be in the water. Its fresh water but i wouldnt call the mississippi river clean!! lol

I usually slip 6 months of the year. I use an antifoul paint. Makes it easy to clean after pullout.

oh heck it is fresh moving water? Just live with it and seasonally clean it, you will not loose much top end.

Sloop ole buddy, even if the water is moving, the organisms living in the water will still cling to the bottom of your boat sitting up home. Unprotected gel coat will discolor or stain if prolonged to sitting in the water (plus a major pain to clean). Top end would not be a problem, but all the stuff growing in and around your outdrive would be. That is the only area that I have trouble with since it is not covered with antifoul paint.

Another note, if your fresh water has zebra muscles, they will attach themselves anywhere below the water line that does not have antifoul.

When I removed my swim deck, the square tube supports that extend under the water were filled with those zebra muscles.

Having antifoul is like teflon coating in a frying pan. The stuff cannot stick to it very well and makes for an easy clean up at the end of the season.

LIVE WITH IT! Get some acid cleaner after ever season and you can clean your boat in 20 minutes, That is assuming your boat is small (under 25 feet). If it is bigger you may want to use an antifouling paint. If you do go the paint route I like to use the micron extra from Interlux.
