I have a Honda B100L 1602260. It started slipping out of reverse and now I have to hold it in. Is there a linkage adjust ment such as johnson has or am I pulling the lower end off? How can I get a manual or exploded view of an engine this old?

Re: slipping out of reverse

There is an adjustment but it is a little hard to explain here, but I'll give it a whirl.Take the engine cover off and look carefully at the shift mechanism as you shift it.You will see a cogged ,half moon ,kinda gear that a roller rides on as you shift.Behind that you will see a pin with a cotter thru a clevis that moves up and down as you shift. That clevis is the top of your shift shaft and threads on and has to be removed to pull down the gearcase. If that was not screwed on the proper amount of turns during gearcase service it will need to be re adjusted. If you are with me so far I can give you some shortcuts.Let me know.

I have a similar problem in that mine jumps into forward. From what I can gather the adjustment occurs at the connection to the shift lever but how do know how many turns to give it to move the clutch dog away from the forward gear?
