Guys,<br />I have a Ted Williams late 1960s 4.5 hp that was a hand me down from my brother (who got it as a hand me down years back). I have no operator's manual but got the engine running smooth. I took it out on my 12 foot aluminum and when I reved it I got very little speed or power off it. No matter what power I called for, the boat just chugged along like the African Queen (slow). I tipped the prop out of the water, gave it gas and noticed the prop spun randomly or not at all. It appeared to be slipping alot, not always catching. Any advice on reparing this problem would be greatly appreciated. I did notice that the vibration from the engine as I gave it gas got pretty loud and saw a couple web references that a loose prop can cause this. Please help me out! Thanks, Cap'n

Re: Slipping Prop

Shear pin. Pull the prop and replace the shear pin.
