slow to WOT

can somebody shed light on this problem for me my 1972 AQ130A(130hp) 270 leg runs perfect without any misses or pops basically she purrrs like a kitty cat but whilst out on the sea if i throttle her quick she will take time to get to WOT the fuel is fresh the carbs are clean could it be a timing issue is what i thought but then wouldnt it missfire the compressions are 140 all round the plugs are new dissy new points new condenser new battery full is it then normal for it to slowly pick up..... at WOT the revs are 4900

Ayuh,....

If the Timing is Off,... No, it won't necessarily Misfire....

How long a time does it take to get to WOT? IT's won't happen instantly, but will gain rpm as speed increases.

it dont take that long and the rpm gains with the speed,,,, is it im so used to an outboard which gets there quick and an inboard is a bit slower????

Yes, an outboard is quicker in most cases. Boat weight is also another problem. The 18' Glastron may be a lot heavier and different in hull design than your 19' Fletcher. The outboards also have trim that will help in getting on plane and to speed faster. The 270 outdrives don't have that.
