slow trim?

i own a jon boat with a 95' 40 horse mercury. the power trim was struggling badly and was very slow. i replaced the trim motor with a new one last year but the speed of the trim is very slow compared to all other boats i have hunted or fished out of. any idea why the slow trim, or is this normal??

It could have the wrong oil in it (to heavy) or a valve stuck in the pump, bad cyl or check valve stuck in it and last but not least a loose manual tilt valve or the o ring on the valve is blown.
