slower and slower at full throtttle...

65, ev, 18 hp 18502 looks good starts nice went slower and slower , engine noise / revs same, slipping? suggestions? went 19 mph for about 15-20 mins then slower and slower to about 9 mph at full throttle ?? new with o/b's help appreciated, thanks

Yes, slipping. They call it a spun out hub. Remove the prop, take it to a prop shop,and have it re-hubbed. Should be Between 30-40buks on your prop.<br />It did what it was designed to do, and saved your lower unit gears by spinning at the rubber hub in the prop. They used to use shear pins....come to think of it, yours being a 1965 vintage, probly DOES use a shear pin,as opposed to a ruubber hub.<br />If so, when you remove the prop, the pin will be in three pieces.

Hi thanks for the reply, problem is, I saw from previous posts, spun prop was likely and before 6/2 posting already switched to a different prop. Question is could the pinned props hubs have problem? It seems to point back to something else, I am clueless.

Have you tried running the motor with the cover off??? A leaking exhaust gasket allowing exhaust fumes into the cowling can cause your symptoms.
