My motor is too big for my boat and I can't get it down below 3.5mph.
I have mechanically adjusted the boat below spec (only to have the dealer return it to normal) and still could not get below 2.5mph

2 questions:

1) Is there an electronic adjustment I can have done to drop the speed?
2) is adjusting it to idle so low a bad thing for the motor?

hi if the motors rpm falls too low the motor will loose oil pressure and cooling you should get a happy troller or a drift bag to slow you down or beck troll or use a smaller prop

Or put an attachment on your lower unit that puts a big flat plate just behind the prop and deflects the thrust sideways....in normal operation, just flip it up out of the way. Somebody sells them as I have seen them numerous times on trolling motors.
