I took my boat out to the lake this past weekend and I find that I have a black sludge coming out the holes on the Lower Unit. Seems to me that it is unburt Gas/Oil.

I have a 50:1 mixture, pretty much exactly. The engine was not smoking to bad. I just checked my Timing and have this set exactly to 30 degrees, at WOT with no plugs and at cranking speed.

I also just resynched my carbs, so they are good to go. I also adjusted the Idle Mixture, a little leaner. I am now at about 1.5 turns out. I used to be about 1 3/4 turns out. This is due to having the Boyesen reeds also, so it must be run a little richer.

I did not have a chance to pull the plugs out and look at them again. I will do this, but they are always wet when I pull them out.

I was running a Stainless Steel Prop, that killed my Hole shot and top end. The RPMS stayed the same about 4300 loaded up. I am sending this prop back and going to get a new one thats a pitch down, and not the SS, but the Aluminum.

Just not sure what is causing the sludge to drain out.

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks,
Bryan

Will do.

This is the worst it has been in a long time. I think that is due to the Prop not spinning all the rpms it really needs. So I have a lower pitch on the way.

I also run the DECARB alot, just haven't done it in about a month. I always use the Deep Creep. I run this on everything I own. It is awesome stuff.

Thanks will give it a shot and let ya know.

Normal accumulation of unburned fuel/oil.

Decarb the motor and it will flush most of that stuff out also.
