Hi all boat lovers; I recently purchased a 1978 15 foot Reinell Tri Hull...It has a Johnson "Stinger 75" motor. The engine has been tuned and runs great, but it is obvious that the original prop was changed. It currently has a 13X19prop, which I am guessing is too much pitch for this boat, since it takes forever to plane out. Can anyone tell me what the stock prop size was for this boat and engine combination. Thank you very much!

Re: Sluggish Stinger 75

Near as I can tell from a 75 brochure there are 2 gearcases and ratios.
20" transom 12:29 ratio gets a 13 X 19 prop, Nitro lower unit 15" transom gets 15:28 ratio 11 3/4 X 17.prop.Of course there are other props available.
depending on the need. Extremely light or extremely heavy boats would likely require different props.Your max rpm and speed would help to determine what you need.

Thanks for your reply and help steelespike...I wish I knew the gearcase and ratio. Where would I look to find that? Would the serial number help? Thanks again.

Re: Sluggish Stinger 75

The way its stated in the brochure the 20" motor gets 12:29 ratio and a 13 X 19 prop.The 15" motor(short shaft) 15:28 ratio and a 11 3/4" X 17 prop.
The 15" motor is refered to with the "Nitro" gearcase using a 11 3/4" X 17" prop.
the 20 inch motor(long Shaft) uses the "standard" gearcase 13 X 19 prop.
I would think a 15' boat would use the standard 13 X 19 prop.
