My hull has small blisters on the bottom rear. They are through two layers of gel coat. They pop open when ground through. How do you fix them

Re: small blister repairs

The only real fix is to remove all of the gel coat and the laminate down to a level where there are no more blisters on all surfaces below the water line. After that you rebuild the surface with epoxy and glass, then fair and paint. It's a very involved and costlyprocess

Id love to but everytime I try a banner ad blocks the window and takes over my phone. They are bad when you grind them down to glass they are pinholes. I think water caused them. They are all around or 3/16 in diameter

What's a little more money lol. I'm in six gallons of resin and no deck yet. The blisters stop St gelcoat

Re: small blister repairs

If your hull is blistered then using polyester resin and gel coat isn't a good option, it would most likely be a temporary fix.

Without pics it makes it very difficult to recommend any good methods.

I dont even know what 2 layers of gel looks like :) ..

Grind/fill with PB, Sand fair, apply gelcoat .. sand and buff.

Unless you want to do a bottom epoxy coating.

At that point its a little more "involved".

Re: small blister repairs

If the blisters are confined to one small location a spot repair may be OK, if they are distributed around the hull spot repairs are worthless.
