Small boats thru the inlet at Ocen City MD.

What's the smallest boat you would be comfortable taking out the inlet during the summer months? Preferably rigid hull examples. I'm thinking about a 17' celebrity next summer. I saw some small 18 or 19 center consoles fishing the inlet but not actually going past the jetty on the assateague side. Thoughts?

Pick your time and day and be very carefully and you'll should be alright.

Just make sure your not in the inlet during periods of heavy tidal flow. There is a standing wave at the mouth at times.

If nature doesn't make it rough enough, the offshore boats running in and out can make life rough and down right dangerous for a small boat.

The smallest I've been through it with was 20'.
But, I've been through worse with smaller.
