Small crack in hull

I have a small crack in my hull, dont know if it goes all the way through or not but would like to take care of it before it gets worse. What would you guys recommend to repair this? Filler? Resin? thanks -Brian

Find out how deep it is, then you will know, is it a paint repair or deeper, if deeper i would bump a grinder on it to rough it up and do a fiber resin repair.

Does the crack leak? Is it just cosmetic?<br /><br />Some pics would help.

bsh21wash,<br /><br />Like Andy said, you need to find out if it is structural. A picture would be nice. If it is along a chine you need to take a hard close look at it. If it is just a spider crack (radiates from a center point) you are probably OK.<br /><br />Let us know.<br /><br />Peace.<br /><br />Ed.

I dont know how to post pics on here, but the crack is on hull where it kinda steps up, kinda like a ladder. Cant really tell if its major or not.

bsh21wash,<br /><br />This is a picture of a fracture that was in my hull, I ground it out so you only see V that was left and I repaired it from the inside first. It is right on the chine, a very bad place for a stress crack since in my boat the stringer runs along the chine.<br /><br />

Hey well i threw some marinetex on it and gonna call it good for the weekend. Ill take further action on it later. Thanks - Brian

If it is on the part where it "steps up like a ladder" that sounds like the chine, if it is through the glass, you will want to make the repair from the inside as well as out, otherwise it will most likely reopen. Keep an eye on it with the MarineTex.

This is fine as long as you know that this is temporary fix, should get through the season though (unless you hit something).
