Wife wants the boat out of the garage and not in the driveway ASAP. The weather here is horrible being cold and rainy with not much relief for a while. I was going to start the boat for the first time on Saturday on the driveway but mother nature doesnt look like it wants to cooperate. So, with that being said, it will hit the marina without being started. I can have the boat put on the water the following weekend, prep it and try to start it in the water. Has anyone else just fired it up initially at the dock? I usually do it on the muffs in the driveway? BTW- all required winterizing was done in the fall including drive and impleller service. Thanks

Tell mama that there's a lot of things you want ASAP too and your not going to get them, , , so tough hop she's going to have to wait a week.

Mommy may control what goes on in the house but she does not tell me what happens in the garage. If only the boat is in there and her car sits outside, that's an issue however. The solution is to sell her car.

Yep - boat took her garage parking space all winter long. I did scrape her windows though when it frosted ;)

As long as your battery is charged, she's going to start just as well in the water as on land. I did it that way with my SeaRay I/O for years and didn't sweat it - mostly due to the fact any work was usually done in the fall. But even if no, a brisk spring day at the dock wrenching on the boat isn't the end of the world by any means.

Something you should take into consideration, however, is that if your motor is full of anti-freeze it's a big no-no to fire up in the lake and in doing so, dump the lot into the water. You should drain that first on land and dispose of properly....like pouring it in the Missus' garden... ;) :D

Good Lord, man!! Move the boat. Fire it up in the driveway and relocate it to the marina.

Am I the only one who realizes that "If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy..."?

On the plus side, if you wind up having to put more money into it to get something fixed, you can tell her that it wouldn't have happened if we just waited a few more weeks. Then quietly walk away...grinning to yourself.

The first year I had my boat, I launched it without previously starting it. Besides dumping anti-freeze in the bay, it smoked so bad for the first minute or so because of the fogging oil that I almost got kicked out of the marina.

If she's waited this long for her parking spot, what's another week or two? You just have to distract her by redirecting the conversation. Try asking her something boring that you don't care about, like how her day was or pretend to be interested in her stories about all the people at work she hates.

Yep, I just don't get this one. My wife's Expedition sits outside 24/7, while my Mustangs sit all nice and cozy in the garage. It was HER idea that it be that way. When the new garage is finished, SHE suggested the "stangs take up BOTH spaces, and the boat reside in the present garage. Note...HER Expedition...even though it is the most expensive of the group...will STILL be outside. HER decision. Man...am I Blessed! (I knew this already :) )

Ever notice?......you'll put a $30,000 car outside in the weather while a $300 lawnmower gets the garage??
