Hi All,

I have been reconditioning an older 1994 Sunbird for about a month now...almost ready for the water...shooting for Fathers Day!

I have a question about a knob that is under the steering column, it just tightens, does not seem to do anything, anyone know what it is for? The helm is stamped with the brand name Teleflex.

Thanks....MS

Ayuh,...

It should be a Tensioner,... It makes it Easier, or Harder to turn the wheel...

My boat has that same knob. I assumed it was a tensioner. However, I have turned it this way and that way and never really saw it do anything.

Yep. BUT it tightenes the steering on someone elses boat. Never touch it unless another boater asks you to....
