Small pond boat?

Many years ago I had a little boat called a SportYak. It was plastic, 7' long and was unsinkable. Max weight was 700lb and max power was 5HP. I loved it for fishing small waters with my beloved Johnny JW-20 on it or simply using a skulling paddle.

I have become too frail to use my Boston Whaler anymore, so I have sold it and my tow vehicle. :( I have a 4 acre fishpond on The Hideout and I plan to do most of my fishing there. I want another SportYak or similar boat that I can muscle around and paddle about on my fishpond.

I don't like the current style of 2-man pond boats that require a motor and park you on a bass boat seat. A small jon, maybe 10', might do.

Any suggestions? Anyone else remember the SportYaks?

JB, I actually like the Walker Bay boats that West Marine sells. They want too much for them, but I see them alot on Craigslist for a fair price. They are unsinkable, come with oar locks or you can put a small motor on them. I believe they have bench style seats.

Those SportYaks are very similar to the one I had 45 years ago, Daddy. Mine had a more rounded hull with higher displacement of foam and a steel tube framework with a chunk of 2X6 to mount an engine and it was rated for 700lb and 5HP. I wouldn't put more than 3HP on her and my elderly 1948 Sea King 1.5 would probably be plenty. I can make an outboard bracket for one of those.

Thanks for the links. I looked at the DFW craigslist and found nothing. That is what I want. I will look around for a used one at a minimum price.
