I was out this weekend and released that I was getting a very mild shock though my steering wheel. At first I thought a jellyfish had stung me but when I let go of the wheel and grabbed it again I noticed it.
My tach also stopped working this weekend. Any Ideas?

1986 Johnson 226

Mac

Mac.... That sounds like you developed a faulty ground somewhere. Could be a broken gound wire, a tight but dirty ground connection, something of that nature..... resulting in you being the ground area.

To start with, I'd suggest that you disconnect the ground wire from the tachometer, then check that wire with a ohm meter to see if it is in fact still grounded to the engine etc.
