I recently bought a 1961 Fabuglas 16' runabout. The entire upper half of the boat has tiny spider cracks in it. It appears to be sound structurally but I want to paint it. I was wondering if I could just sand the entire top of the boat and prime and paint. If so, does anyone have any suggestions on doing this? This is definetly not my area of expertise.

Welcome to iboats.

Spider cracks or crazing? Since it is the entire top deck......

You can sand through them but it really should be resealed. Those are cracks in the gel coat and if you bare up any fiberglass fibers under that you should re-seal it...... then paint using roll and tip.

KG great question I have the same issue with my 64 Crestliner . I would say if yours is thee same as mine it is crazing of the gelcoat and not actual spider cracks :D.

Bob what would you recomend to reseal the fiberglass I would assume new gelcoat ?
